Habitat homeowners make a monthly mortgage payment as well as paying closing cost of their home. Homeowners don't pay interest on their mortgage and payments are no more than 30 percent of their monthly income. 

Habitat Homeowners normally invest in approximately 325 hours of "sweat equity." The Homeowners work alongside volunteers and Habitat employees to make home-ownership possible
